To explain what we’re doing to change retail forever, we need to take a trip back in time to where it all started. Buckle up, you’re in for a ride!
About thirteen years ago our team was given a record shop (long story), and we had a mission to save it from going bust. At the time we owned an ecommerce company and thought that with our combined experience we’d be able to turn the business around.
After putting our heads together to come up with a plan, we then put together a list of items that we needed to salvage the shop by improving the in-store processes and then by taking it online!
The List
- Point of sale
- Machine for card payments
- Ecommerce site
- A way of doing accounts
- A stock control system that worked in-store, and would make sure our unique vinyls couldn’t be sold online if they had already been sold in the shop
Putting together the list was the easy bit, but now we were retailers and had to hit the ground running.
We noticed really quickly that we were getting ripped off by suppliers. We were being pitched and sold some pretty horrific till systems, but in suppliers’ eyes, the quality didn’t matter as long as they got us tied into a contract. Sound familiar?
The misselling of point of sale software was incredible. Hidden costs, sneaky clauses and ‘untruths’ were par for the course. Stock control tools just didn’t do what they said they would, and certainly didn’t work between in-store and online systems.
We assumed that suppliers were on our side. They were essentially retailers too. Their success was based on our success, so why were they treating us like dirt and charging us a fortune for the pleasure of doing so?
Card payment providers were like wolves in sheep’s clothing. They would tell you what you’d want to hear, offer you a fantastic rate, and then at the end of the month, a heap of additional charges appear that really made the payment rate completely irrelevant. And guess what? We couldn’t do anything about it because we’d signed a contract.
Our time as retailers didn’t last long. The system we needed to run a shop, manage stock, take payments and get online…at a reasonable price…. Didn’t exist.
So we set out to build it ourselves. That’s how AirPOS started.
We’ve spent ten years and millions of pounds building the system that we needed, and built it with retailers in mind. We’re hitting back at the industry of suppliers that have been screwing over retailers like you for decades!
We’re now in a position where we’re able to give away ten years of software development for free. No hidden charges. No contracts.
How can we give it away for free? Through AirPOS Pay!
What is AirPOS Pay?
We’ve partnered with Stripe to create a fully integrated, fast and reliable payments platform that we’re calling AirPOS Pay. We’re legitimately offering it all contract-free, and with no terminal rental charges.
We’re continuing to offer free support for payments and POS, 7 days per week.
How does AirPOS make money out of this?
You get everything for free and we’ll take a small commission on the payments that go through your card reader. Simple.
We’ve tried being retailers like you, and we couldn’t do it. The system we needed didn’t exist. We were sick of getting ripped off by dodgy point of sale providers, and lying card payment providers, and we kept getting stuck in contracts that only delivered for the provider, not the retailer.
AirPOS Pay will change that for retailers like you. We’re on your side. We’re committed to cutting your costs and helping you to grow your business through honesty, transparency, technology and educational resources!
